Do You Feel Lucky?

Everyone seems to ask that question this time of year. When it comes to games of chance I'm never lucky at all. However, in life, I feel like one of the luckiest people in the world! I bet you often feel the same way!

For this challenge I have created a "Lucky" word art that I would like for you to use on your page and then list at least THREE things, either in a list format or in your journaling, for which you feel you are lucky.

Below is my page using the word art - I created a four-leaf clover using paper and leaves from Kandy Kane Creation's Delicate kit and used the remaining portions of the kit for the page itself.

I used the word art for my title but you can use it any way that you choose:

Happy March! It's Challenge Time!

There is still snow on the ground here in Indy but the birds are singing and building nests so I'm hopeful that spring is just around the corner! That makes me very happy!!

Something else that makes me happy is meeting new friends and this past week I had the opportunity to meet a fellow creative team member in person for the first time. We had a blast!! If you have never had this chance I encourage you all to try to make this happen somehow - it's worth it!! Below is a page I made about the beginning of our wonderful new friendship using Lisa's new kit "Preppy Girl."

From that page I created a template for this month's template challenge. I seldom work backwards like that but I was working from an ad and thought either the ad or the page itself would be a good inspiration for you guys.

Where you see a circle, the ad had a sun. Where you see swirls, there was a lawn sprinkler and where there are flowers, the ad had lawn furniture. You can envision how I created substitutions.

Your challenge now is to take the template below and tweak it to fit your own needs. Turn, twist, substitute out something but make it your own page - still recognizable - but your own.

Happy Friday Everyone! I don't know about you, but I'm glad the weekend is finally here. It gives me time to get caught up on my scrapping. One thing that is going to help me get out of my scrapping funk is the challenges at Scrapable. Not only will they help me focus on getting my layouts done, I can get a gift certificate to the store for doing them all!

Have you heard about how the challenges work? Well, it is so great! By participating, you will earn points towards a gift certificate to the Scrapable store:

Each challenge is good for 1 point
*except speed scrap which will have designer sponsored mini kit giveaway*
2 points if LO contains 90% or more Scrapable product
Scrappers may redeem points in 20 point increments - Each 20 points is good for a $5 gift certificate to the store

That's it! Easy Peasy!! The challenges themselves are so much fun.

First you have the "Focus on Me" Challenge. This challenge is when you do a layout all about you! We tend to focus all of our time and energy on our families, that it is time that we remember that future generations will want to learn about us. After all, isn't that was scrapbooking is all about?

Another challenge is the Font Challenge. I don't know about you, but I tend to use the same fonts over and over. This is a great way to make me use a font I probably never thought to use. Plus it helps build up my font collection.

There is also the Quote Challenge. With this challenge, the host will give you a quote you have to add some where on your layout.

Next is the Scraplift Challenge. Getting inspired by another person's incredible layout is a great way to break you out of your comfort zone and get you thinking outside of the box. I learn so much by doing this. I bet you will too.

My favorite will have to be the Speed Scrap. You are given directions on how your layout will have to look - one step at a time. You are given a certain time frame (about an hour) to get it all done. I think these are so much fun.

I'm also really looking forward to the Template Challenge too. I love using templates, they make it easy to scrap quickly. When you have little ones under your feet, time is not always on your side.

There is one challenge that hasn't started yet, but I know will be great is the Desktop Challenge. I love putting a new desktop on my computer each month. It helps me from getting bored looking at the same picture over and over again.

So there you have it - A brief rundown of how my scrapping weekend will be looking! I hope these challenges will inspire you to get some pages done, and have fun with us at Scrapable.

Free Word Art and a New Challenge too!

I hope all of you enjoyed the Grand Re-opening at Scrapable this weekend. If you were not able to make it this weekend, then be sure to stop by the site and check out all of the new items in the store and especially the challenges that have been posted in the forums. They are fantastic.

Today I have a new challenge for you. The template challenge will still run through this Friday so get your pages finished and uploaded before then.

Last week it was reported that all contiguous US states + Alaska had received at least a dusting of snow. Of course some received a whole lot more than a dusting. So, with Valentines' Day out of the way and spring not yet on the horizon, I thought it was a good time to finish up some of those wintry, snow pages.

Below is a piece of word art that I've created using Lisa's terrific kit "Chill." The challenge is to use the word art on your page somewhere. Naturally it would work best if you also used Lisa's coordinating kit but you may use it with any of her products.

You have two weeks from today to finish your page, upload it to the gallery of your choice - we'd love for it to be at Scrapable so we can ooh and aaah over it - and then post a link back here in the comment section. A winner will be randomly selected for the coupon.

January's First Challenge - Are you Ready?

As I am typing today's challenge there is approximately 8-10" of snow outside my door with more still softly falling. Lisa's new kit for the January Color Play at Elemental Scraps, CHILL, would be so perfect for all of the photos that I have taken of the trees, kids and even my pooch playing in the snow.

However, the challenge today isn't about snow or winter or cold! It also isn't about P365, P52s or goals for the new year. There are enough of those out there. It is about using the new kit CHILL though! How, you may be asking yourself...

For this challenge you will take this lovely winter kit, with its various shades of blue, subtle pinkish tones and hints of dirty black and greys and create a page about any topic you desire EXCEPT winter, snow, or any typical winter/snowflake theme.

On the page below I used the kit to design a beach themed layout about my son. I tweaked some of the colors just a tad and, using the cookie cutter tools already available to me to PSE, I created some splashes and other elements directly from the kit's paper. This winter kit suddenly became the perfect summer kit!

Now let's see what you can do! Create your own page using the Chill kit, available at Elemental Scraps, upload it to a gallery of your choice and post a link here in the comments section. I cannot wait to see your beautiful creations!!

It's Monday! New Release Time!

It's Monday again, and Lisa has done it again!!! This week she is releasing this great kit called Upon a Star. And you can get the Alpha, Element and Paper packs individually for only $1!!

The possibilities are endless. Lisa's CT and the CT at Elemental Scraps had a lot of fun playing with is. Here are a few examples from Lisa's CT.

First off, I did a couple;) This one if one I took of my adorable little nephew on Christmas Eve. Who can resist those chubby little cheeks??

Then I did this one of my oldest dd. She got Rock Band for Christmas, and loves playing it!!

Happy Holidays and Merry Christmoose - Freebie

I am so excited - today is my very first post for Kandy Kane Creations and I have a special holiday themed freebie for you.

Each year I make place cards for our holiday dinner table. This year I want to share them with you!

Below is a photo of the cards I've made this year using Kandy Kane Creations' "Merry Chrismoose" kit. There are two versions: one that says Happy Holidays and the other says Merry Chrismoose. Each can be customized with your guests' name. The links are below the image.

Customize as many wrappers as needed, be sure to save each one with "save as" before continuing on with your next wrapper. Once you have done this, print them out using a light colored cardstock or lightweight photo paper.

Remove the paper wrapper from a regular sized chocolate bar, leaving only the silver foil, and wrap your new, customized wrapper around the bar, securing in the back with double-stick tape.

Here is what mine looked like. I used almond chocolate bars which are a little smaller than regular chocolate bars but that's what my "kids" asked Santa for.

Hello, fellow scrappers!! Well, Lisa has been at it again:) Check out this adorable kit Lisa released this past Friday at Elemental Scraps!!

This is just the cutest farm kit I have ever seen. Those little animals are just too darn cute! A few of my fellow CT friends have created a few layouts to give us a little inspiration. It's Monday...November 2nd already! Wow. It's been cold here in Wisconsin. I thought my boys would freeze to death out Trick or Treating on Saturday! They had to wear long johns and sweatpants under their costumes!! I guess winter is on it's way! And winter means Christmas! Yay! So if you are ready for some new releases, I think I can help you get started on your shopping! First up I have a 2010 Quick Page Calendar for you! Just add your photos and get it printed! I did this last year and I took it to Office Max and it was only $9.99 per calendar! Did one for each grandma and one for myself! They loved it!! Each month comes with a top and a bottom.
